Kabkab Dates are one of the most famous Iranian Dates. They are delicious but economical. Their color varies from yellow or light brown when they are nearly ripe and dark brown and black when they are fully ripe. They are very soft, sweet, juicy, and sticky and have very thin skin. The juice makes them taste somehow like honey. Kabakab Dates are oval-shaped, their average size is 3-4 cm and since their moisture is less than 18%, they are considered a semi-dry type.
Iranian kabkab dates are mainly cultivated in Bushehr Province. Kabkab Dates are not as well-known as Mazafati, Piarom, and Zahedi Dates in international markets. Their main consumption is in domestic markets. Kabkab dates are harvested in October and no refrigeration is needed for their storage.
